It's been a while since I've shared with you what's come in the mail for me, and what I've picked up at the library and the bookshops to read. I thought I'd spend some time doing that because I want to let you know there are some great books out there that I do read or skim that I don't get to review in full on my blog.
Here are the books that I've recently received in the mail:
Huge stacks received from Random House...YA fiction to whom I'm most grateful. Here are some links so you can get a couple of previews. I read and reviewed "Kissing Shakespeare" from Random House this past week.

Then: I received stacks of books from various other publishers including Hachette Publishing/GrandCentral/LittleBrown&Co., and Mulholland Books; Algonquin Press, St. Martin's Press, Crown Publishing and a few self-published authors. These publishers are my life-lines and I so appreciate them...hope I do them and my authors justice!
Here's a small quantity of those below~

So many! I have to tell you I'm so excited to read "Tilt" by Ellen Hopkins and all the others!! I just love John Irving and I'm dying to get to his book. And, then I got David Cristofano's first book before "The Exceptions" that tells the girl's side of that story...can't wait. "Bride of New France" had to have.

Library Loot!
Had to go there because I had missed a couple of books in the past and didn't want to buy them. This is my usual for that sort of thing.
Here are my choices...
"The Solitary House" is exceptionally good. It's written by a Dickens scholar and has that atmosphere. Just a fabulous book. "...Gemma" you may remember is a Jane Eyre inspired book.
These are my FINDS!!
I love to get books for nothing or a pittance. So we have a freebie book stall in my home community, a buying bin ($1.00 for hardbacks and $.50 for paperbacks) at the library, and Hospice donation shop locally. I visit these places once in a while to see what I can find while I'm dropping off donations of my own.
Here's what I found this month:
Can you believe I found "Gone Girl" in a first edition in my community for nothing!? "Tumbleweeds, as well. I found this Georgette Heyer for $.50 at my library, as well as the historical fiction. Jeffery Deaver and Lisa Gardner books are also from my community library. Hit the jackpot, didn't I? :]
So.... these are only the books I'm telling you about. The others are my secrets. I have lots of new reviews coming up the rest of this month and into October. Hope it's as much fun for you as it is for me.
Happy reading.
Let me know if you've found any good books I should know about!
Or what you think about the ones I've found.
